Ryan Douglas Moore (Tuba) is a freelance low brass musician and educator based out of Lexington, Kentucky. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Performance from the University of Kentucky and is currently finishing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from UK. Ryan has held principal positions in the University of Kentucky Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Opera, Jazz Band, Trombone Choir and the Tuba Euphonium Ensemble. Ryan has played with multiple professional groups from the central Kentucky area including the Lexington Philharmonic, the Dimartino Osland Jazz Orchestra, the Lexington Brass Band, the Bluegrass Ambassadors of Jazz Ensemble and Saxton’s Cornet Band. He regularly performs with local jazz and rock bands including the Payback (James Brown tribute band), the Matt Duncan Band, Big Fresh and The G-Funk Allstars. He also performs multiple times a year at the First United Methodist Church and Christ the King Church of Lexington. Ryan’s private students are very successful in their musical endeavors, having had several high school students participating in the KMEA Allstate bands and regularly receiving distinguished marks for their solo and ensemble efforts. He is currently the Part Time Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Kentucky where he teaches a large studio of undergraduate tuba and euphonium majors along with conducting the University of Kentucky Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, holding weekly master classes and teaching Low Brass Methods class to undergraduate education majors. Ryan additional teaches private trombone lessons at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky and is Adjunct Faculty at Southeast Indiana University in New Albany, Indiana where he teaches private tuba lessons.
