Applying for Aid
IU Southeast Financial Aid Department considers all funding available to finance your higher education goals. This funding may include federal, state, and institutional based financial assistance. We are committed to your success and we want to encourage you to get the aid for which you are eligible. The university recognizes that each student and family situation is unique. In all cases, complete confidentiality is provided to persons supplying financial information to Indiana University Southeast. Please complete the following steps to help us facilitate your higher education goals.
STEP 1: Applying for Aid
-
Complete your FAFSA:
A Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA must be completed annually to receive Financial Aid. This can be completed via a mailed-in form or the above website. The U.S. Department of Education prefers web submission of the FAFSA. If you choose to use the WEB, please be careful to read the instructions as it will help guide you through the process. A PIN or 4 digit number will be provided by the Department of Education so that you may electronically sign the FAFSA. Indiana residents applying for state aid must submit their FAFSA in time for the U.S. Department of Education to receive it no later than March 10th for the following academic year. CVO recipients (Child of Deceased/Disabled Veteran or Officer) must now submit a FAFSA annually. If you are applying only for non-need-based aid (such as merit scholarships or employee fee courtesy) a FAFSA is not required.
If you are a dependent student, you and your parent will need to sign your application. We recommend that you and your parents apply for a PIN now. Please forward the link provided: Applying for PIN https://fafsa.ed.gov/before004.htm
-
Complete supplemental applications:
If you file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we will automatically consider you for federal and state grants. If you wish to be considered for Federal Work-Study, and federal loans please select your interest when completing the FAFSA . Our Grants and Scholarships section lists additional awards that either require a separate application or are based on your Admissions information. If you wish to qualify for additional scholarships and grants, please visit the Scholarships & Grants page.
To qualify for any IU Southeast Financial Aid Scholarship you must also submit an IU Southeast Scholarship application by February 1 for priority consideration. For aid from sources outside of the university, follow their requirements and deadlines. If you are awarded an outside scholarship, submit a copy of your award letter to the IUS Financial Aid office as soon as possible or list this aid on the bottom of your IU Southeast Financial Aid Notification; then sign, date, and return it to the Financial Aid Office.
If you are a parent of a dependent student, you may apply for the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) through the link found on the Loans page.

Reapply annually:
Reapply by completing a FAFSA every year to be considered for financial aid. Awards based upon the submission of this application are only for one academic year and the following summer.
