The "Community Financial Health Initiative" is a series of educational programs and services aimed at removing educational barriers and improving the financial health of our local community. The IU Southeast Office of Financial Aid is working with outside organizations, businesses and agencies and with other departments on campus to do everything possible within the bounds of our area of expertise to improve the lives of citizens in our community.
We would like to offer an opportunity for students and parents to come together with the financial aid professionals of our office to discuss how they can afford to go to college. Our “Financing Your Future” mini-conference is free and open to all college-bound students and parents regardless of where they plan to attend. The event will cover several financial aid themes, some of which are listed below:
In addition to our staff, there will also be professionals available to answer questions in regards to how the current economic crisis could affect funding for college. State representatives will be available to discuss issues specific to their state’s funding.
Financing Your Future will be presented in the IU Southeast Conference Center on Tuesday, October 23rd from 5:30 to 8pm.

College Goal Sunday is a program that helps college-bound Indiana students who qualify for undergraduate admission to a college or technical school in the upcoming year and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). College Goal Sunday provides on-site help from financial aid experts, primarily from Indiana colleges and universities. Most colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools in the nation require students seeking federal financial aid, including grants and loans, to complete the FAFSA. Your FAFSA form must be received by the federal processor on or before March 10. Twenty-first Century Scholars must complete and submit a FAFSA form to claim their Twenty-first Century Scholarships. College Goal Sunday will help all college-bound students, including Twenty-first Century Scholars, complete the FAFSA properly.
Students 23 years of age or younger should attend with their parent(s) or guardian(s) and bring their parents’ completed 2012 IRS 1040 tax return, W-2 form or other 2012 income, asset and benefits information. Students who worked last year should also bring their earnings information. Older students may attend alone and bring their own income information. Please apply for your Federal PIN at www.pin.ed.gov before coming to the event.
During the week following College Goal Sunday the IU Southeast Office of Financial Aid will provide one-on-one assistance to continuing students by appointment and through group lunchtime presentations.
