The Bookstore window has been beautifully decorated for the event. Items are coming in well and we have enough baskets but still need filler items, packaged candy and cookies or bread. Coffee and hot cider will be ordered from Conference & Catering. We will have minimum starting bids on each item and need to know worth of items donated. Leslie Turner volunteered to create signs and post them pointing the way to the auction. Please send reminders to those in your units, if allowed, urging them to attend the auction.
In Regina's absence, Lesley will get at least one large copy made of the Story Board to exhibit on an easel at the auction.
Julie Bethany has been contacted regarding updating the website and some changes that need to be made. Julie replied that she will check with her staff to get the changes and updates made. Some of the problems are due to the age of the program that we are using.
A meeting was held on Friday, October 10, with 3 attending. Connie reported that the next meeting will be postponed until after the silent auction. Questions about procedure have been sent to the Chancellor's office for clarification.
Diane Fuchs reported on the progress made regarding the reception. The committee is in the process of putting together a power-point slide presentation regarding Staff Council for the event. A tri-fold flyer is also being created to distribute to those attending. The committee suggested having two receptions per year, the first being held on January 20, 2009. All new hires beginning with July 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008 would be invited to attend. The second group would consist of those hired between January 1, 2009 and June 30, 2009, and would be held on July 21, 2009. The committee will meet after the silent auction to finalize plans.
Alice noted that we have a request for assistance. After discussion, a motion was made and seconded to grant this request. The motion passed by a vote of 8-1. A copy of the request will be given to Treasurer Mary Ann Wild for action.
Diane noted that the IUS Fall Festival offers groups the opportunity to run booths at the Fall Festival and receive a portion of the proceeds. This would be a good money-raising opportunity with minimum time spent.
Lisa Stark announced that one of her friends would like to teach a candy-making class. The class would be free except for the supplies used. An email will be sent to Staff Council members to get an idea of those interested in attending.
The Louisville Zoo is giving a 33% discount for IU Southeast employees for Halloween at the Zoo.
