6 financial aid secrets
every student should know

  1. Apply Early.
Why not be first in line for college money? File by March 1 to maximize your chances. Just like the lottery, you can't win if you don't enter.
  2. Read Carefully.
Yeah, the forms have to be filled in right! Most errors occur because people don't read and understand instructions. Paying attention pays.
  3. Stay Involved.
Getting financial aid is all about you. Be involved and persistent. Paying for your education is not as important to anyone else as it is to you.
  4. Ask Questions.
Don't be shy. A simple question could alert the Financial Aid to your eligibility for more money.
  5. Respond to Requests Promptly.
Know that whenever we ask for additional info or documentation, no action will be taken until it is received. A slow response may mean that funds could run out before your need is calculated--ouch!
  6. Keep Records.
Keep extra copies of your application, FAFSA, tax returns, and other documents that may be requested. Documentation is your friend.
